EUROPE’S UNTAPPED VENTURE POTENTIAL

Of Europe’s over 500 million residents, over half identify as women. An estimated 15 million Black, 7 million North African, and many, many more are of Middle Eastern, East Asian and Hispanic/Amerindian-origin.

STATISTICS

Past Atomico “State of European Tech” reports conclude that European tech companies have made “dismal” progress on ethnic diversity, that gender diversity has “stalled” and that discrimination remains a “systemic problem”.

In 2021, Forbes cited a 48,000-company study showing that European startups led by men received 93% more funding than those led (or co-led) by women. These reports suggest a lack of diversity in Europe, but the opposite is true.

In fact, the combination of digital technology and global migration (and immigration) is driving rapid change.

EU INNOVATION PARTNER

Reporters and other inquisitive types often rely on well-networked “fixers” whilst abroad on unfamiliar terrain. As a tech “fixer,” I connect investors with the EU’s hidden innovation networks and with ecosystem movers and shakers.
